Noir Notes is a dynamic jazz duo consisting of vocalist Sophie and guitarist Wouter, known for their warm, swinging, and versatile performances. With Sophie’s powerful voice and Wouter’s virtuosic guitar playing, they blend classic jazz standards with modern jazz and pop covers, making every performance unique and captivating. Over the years, the duo has perfected their signature sound, subtly incorporating a loop pedal and even a kazoo to create surprising and atmospheric music.

Experience and Background

The duo has been working together since 2015. Wouter studied guitar at the Rock Academy in Tilburg and Musicology at Utrecht University, while Sophie began at the Theatre Academy before following her passion for music. Together, they reached the finals of the cabaret program De Lachende Derde at the Amsterdam Kleinkunst Festival in 2017 and released the album 16bis, featuring Dutch-language jazz-pop. Since then, they have performed as Noir Notes throughout the Benelux—at festivals, radio shows, weddings, corporate events, and holiday parks—averaging more than fifty performances per year.
